#MIKidsCan be the Youth Skater of the Game

Giving Kids the Spotlight for Leading Healthy Lifestyles

DETROIT— Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is proud to partner with the Detroit Red Wings to feature Royal Oak’s Michael Smith, 9, as the #MIKidsCan Youth Skater of the game on Saturday, March 2, 2019.  Because of his commitment to living a healthy lifestyle, Michael will have the opportunity to skate on the ice alongside the Detroit Red Wings players at Little Caesars Arena prior to the game. He will also receive four tickets to the game, one youth-sized Red Wings jersey and souvenir photos of the experience.

The Youth Hockey Skater of the Game program with the Detroit Red Wings is a part of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan #MIKidsCan initiative. This program gives kids across Michigan the resources, inspiration, tools and motivation to live a healthy lifestyle at a young age. #MIKidsCan is all about encouraging active lifestyles for sporty kids like Michael and teaching healthy habits to children and families around the state. Blue Cross has an ongoing commitment to children’s health and the #MIKidsCan campaign focuses on encouraging kids to adopt healthy habits early in life that they will carry into adulthood.

Andrew Hetzel, vice president of Corporate Communications at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, says “At Blue Cross, we have long believed that Michigan’s kids can do anything they imagine. The goal of our MIKidsCan campaign is to engage kids to build healthy habits and become inspired to do great things in their lives.”
